The Port of Kingston has received ISPS certification and is one of the leading Transshipment hubs in the region, being well served by a comprehensive network of shipping lines that offer a wide range of routing.
Kingston Wharves Limited is one of the Caribbean's leading Multi-Purpose terminal operators with the capacity to handle RO-RO or LO-LO vessels; containerized, bulk and break-bulk cargoes. The terminal is also involved in the transshipment of motor units as well as providing container stuffing/stripping, reconsolidation and stevedoring services.
Current berth occupancy is 40% thus vessel waiting time for berthing is literally zero. As part of its commitment to the maintenance of highest standards of operational efficiency, the company has invested in a range of modern terminal handling equipment, and yard management software as well as continuously upgrading the skills of personnel.

To effectively and efficiently serve our customers KWL utilizes 3 Gottwald Mobile Cranes, Super-Stackers, Clark Top Loaders , Taylor Empty Container Handlers, 4-15 Tons Forklift, 40' Manual Spreaders, a variety of trucks, trailers and Bomb Carts.

General Berthing Policy
|
|
Windows are provided for container liner services with regular weekly calls.
|
|
|
Container vessels are given priority over break-bulk vessel.
|
|
|
Two vessels simultaneously vying for the same berth, the first vessel arriving at Pilot Station is given preference.
|
|
|
Bookings and confirmations should be communicated to the Operations Manager.
|
|
|
Berth bookings should be confirmed no later than 48 hours prior to vessel arrival.
|
|
|
Special arrangements such as stevedoring agreements, taking bunker or water and vessel idle time alongside requests can be made with the Terminal.
