Quarterly Customer Update

Re-development of Berths 8/9
- April 26, 2006 -

KWL will be undertaking a major redevelopment project to enhance the vessel size capabilities of Berths 8 and9. This infrastructural development will begin in early May and will have a duration of 15 months. The Berth 8 and 9 re-development project will see the rebuilding and expansion of these berths to accommodate vessels larger than those that the company currently handles. In doing so, the company will no longer be constrained by the inability to handle vessels over a certain size which has been an issue for some time. Under the redevelopment project, the new berths will be dredged to 15 metres, allowing room for an increase in vessel size. Apart from an increase in berthing capacity, depth of water and volume of vessels, other spin-offs include a growth in the volume of containers coming through the ports and an increase in storage capacity. Container storage levels will increase by 50% more than the current capacity. The project was officially launched at a Press Conference on March 23, 2006.
