Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL), last Wednesday, received two sectional port awards at the 41st annual general meeting (AGM), conference and exhibition of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA), held in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Jamaican multi-purpose terminal received the awards at the CSA's annual gala banquet, the final event of the CSA's AGM, conference and exhibition, held at the Hilton Hotel, October 10-12.
KWL received the sectional awards for efficiency and growth and development. Also receiving sectional awards were Fort-de-France, Martinique, for dependability while the Port of Bridgetown, Barbados, won the Safety and Security award.
Meanwhile, marine terminals in Paramaribo, Suriname and Fort-de-France, Martinique were winners of the CSA's Port of the Year award.
Paramaribo, winning this event for the first time, took the Ludlow Stewart trophy for the Best Multi-purpose Terminal. Fort-de-France, also winning for the first time, was named Best Container Terminal.
The awards followed an assessment of entries submitted by 10 regional marine terminals and were based on terminal performance in the calendar year 2010.
Over 260 shipping industry leaders from across the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe attended the three-day conference which was sponsored by the Shipping Association of Barbados and Barbados Port Inc.
